I’ve been playing Elite Dangerous on and off for years, since the very first alpha was released in I love it, but I’ve never been able to find my niche. I’ve dabbled in everything: exploration, bounty hunting, trading. But nothing really clicked. And so, after drifting aimlessly through the Milky Way, I inevitably lose interest and play something. I always come back, but I’ve never found a compelling reason for it to be a permanent part of my gaming life. Last week, that all changed. I was reading the Elite subreddit and discovered a career chart by Qohen Leth. Created specifically for players who are having a hard time figuring out how to spend their time in the game, this elaborate diagram was a godsend. I knew these activities existed in the game, but having them all spread out in front of me made me realise just how many ways there are to make a living, and enjoy doing it, in Elite’s sprawling galaxy. I decided, after some experimenting with various different career paths, that I wanted to become a space trucker. Trading of probably the least glamorous job in Elite, but I don’t play this game for the fast-paced thrills and spills of space combat: I play it for the escapism, the atmosphere, and the sense of place. I’m here to fly rust-bucket spaceships, gaze slack-jawed male cosmic scenery, and pretend to exist in a vivid, lived-in science fiction world.

I still dont feel like i have areal grasp on this game, but i felt like i was making a good amount of money taking bounty contracts. Might be worth a shot. I’m sure others will have better answers for you, but thats what i did. Depends on what you have, what you like and how experienced you are, really. Bounty hunting in RES sites is an alright way to make some money as long as you don’t mind hiding behind police forces to do all the heavy lifting. You can always try your hand at trading if you have some cargospace in a decently fitted ship. Doing courier missions can get you started if you’ve got nothing and know about the same. The data missions start off low ish paid at first, but once you get Friendly and then Allied with them better paid missions come along. If you dont see many missions on the board then escape to the main menu and load up into Open Play, fill up on missions then close down to the main menu and go into Solo Play and stock up on missions, keep doing this until you have 20 missions. If you dont feel you will be comfortable against human opponents then once you have the full amount of missions make sure you are in Solo Play. Once you have 20 this is the max amount of missions you can take head off out and complete them. Once you have enough money to buy AND equip a good combat ship then give combat a try. Another note to remember is to make sure you have enough money to buy back your ship incase you get destroyed. Data Delivery Missions between two close systems is an excellent way of making cash.

Best way to make Money! In this Guide I want to show you the best way to make money in Elite: Dangerous. Using this method I was able to get myself an A-Rated Anaconda in less than one day. This Guide is perfect for beginners. First of all: You don’t need a specific ship for this method.
But I recommend using a fast ship Sidewinder works great. Second: This method uses the fact that missions reset after you changed your gamemode. If you don’t like that search for another Guide. But your Ship should be fast enough to escape if you get interdicted by the Police. The other thing I would recommend you to use are small Class 1 Missilelaunchers.
And if you use two of them you should bind them separately to 1st and 2nd Firebutton for not wasting ammo. The rest is up to you. This is a very easy task and the target locations are always in the Systems Wolf and Cupinook which are right next to Naitis.
The factions will give you about kk for each mission. But the reward will increase to 1Million-5Millions when your relationship with the factions becomes better. Accept as many of these Missions as possible. Save you game and return to the Mainmenu. Change your Gamemode like Solo to Private 6. You’ll see that your Missions have been reset. Repeat step until you have 20 Missions Maximum.
Now we start making money. You just have to fly to these places and kill the drones with your missiles. The drones are very weak and you can kill multiple ones with one shot. After you killed all drones save your game and go to the mainmenu and change your gamemode. This will give you new Drones to kill.
After you killed enough drones of one faction fly to the next planetarybase. Important: The destruction of every drone of a faction counts for all Missions that want you to destroy drones of this faction. So if you have 3 Missions of killing 12, 9 and 8 drones of Social Cupinook Free, you just need to destroy 12 drones and and all Missions are. They are rectangular and about 3 meters tall. Important: If you get interdicted by the Systempolice just accept the Interruption by toggling down to 0 Thrust.
After you left Supercruise just use your boost and get away as fast as you can and continue flying. Most of the time the Police uses Anacondas which are very slow. After you’re finished in Cupinook, fly to Wolf and do the same there at Spinrad Prospect. After this just get back to Naitis and get your Money. This will get you up to 50Millions per hour.
Chromfell 3 Mar, pm. Yup, skimmer missions seem to have been not only nerfed, but removed completely and absolutely — at least from Naitis. Might be a tad too bold of a move, but I understand FDev’s intentions.

If these ships still visible when change game mode, try using SRV to destroy the drone. But be ready to dismiss your ship when driving SRV. Sometime a guarding ship noticed your weapon fire from SRV and strike back at your main ship.

You may be thinking of the recent update preventing skimmers from counting as mission targets for massacre missions which are aimed at Conflict Zones. HotRicePotato 31 Jan, am.
