One thing that took me a while to work out is that there is actually no cost for placing a route, the number of stops it has or its length.

Most of them have hundreds of passengers and are quite efficient. Profit is sometimes positive, sometimes negative, but nothing outstading. I’m able to also create one or two efficient subway lines, but they have a great deficit on the weekly balance. The remaining are just plain useless. Even the airport feels like it shouldn’t be there, although I do make a lot of money out of tourists, so maybe I should build one, but I feel that 70k pop ain’t enough for that When I reached the problem of goods not getting into stores in time, I tried using cargo stations, like harbors and train stations, but these are just traffic jammers. I’m thinking about building three train cargo stations, side by side, in order to lessen the traffic effect. Taxis are quite good, but they clog up traffic, and I’m thinking about not using them. PS: Bicycles are the future! It saves so much money and travelling. I tried it on a new city and it helped me a lot! The only downside is that you need to replace your roads with trees with roads with cycling lanes I think is worth it anyway. Last edited by Friends with Benedicts ; 13 Jul, am.

One thing that took kaking a while to work out is that there is actually no cost for placing a route, the number of stops makig has or its length. The cost of running your bus service comes down simply to how many bus momey you have on your map!! As for how to place routes, I don’t think I’ve ever really mastered bus routes. I never used to make a profit from my bus routes.
In more recent maps I do seem to manage to make a small profit, not big, but a profit is a profit I guess!! I think I startyed making a profit when I switched to making more linear routes than routes that were more windy.
Increase the costs of the tickets. Load IPT2. The monetary algorithms in game are not realistic. So feel free to charge 5 or 10 dollars to board your busses and enjoy your profits. I believe if you do make a profit, you’re doing it wrong. You don’t want cims roaming around your city. You want them working. My streets and roads are almost barren. Seleck View Profile View Posts. Check how many people are waiting at the stops, you may need more or less busses, pie not need that line at all.

When I get to a certain pop and education etc then the economy is hardly an issue, often quite the reverse. Tankfriend View Profile View Posts. This article is considered accurate for the current version of the cities skylines buses not making money. Transportation is one of the services in Cities: Skylines. There are many modes of transportation which are unlocked through milestones ; moneu can set up a bus network, dig metro tunnels, lay down tracks for passenger and cargo trains, build both passenger and cargo terminals for ships and build an airport. Bus and metro networks are for inner city transport while train network can service both inner-city and intercity needs both passenger and cargo trains. The harbors and the airport service intercity connections. The different modes of transportation are suitable for different purposes, and together make it possible to build a dense network of public transportation across your city. The budget of each mode of transportation can be adjusted separately in the Economy menu. Public transport increases land value and, if built correctly, reduces traffic congestion.
